Alumni Classic - Launch Pad
In the first, of a two - part project for Neutral Zones of America, ROCKET MEDIA created a site especially for their upcoming event, the 1st Annual ASU vs. U of A Alumni Classic Basketball Game.
Neutral Zones is the latest addition to our growing list of outreach projects. When Lester Neal, the founder of Neutral Zones of America, approached us after our Understanding Social Media for Business presentation at the Gilbert Chamber of Commerce, we were happy to meet with him to discuss a possible website. When we heard about Neutral Zones’ cause, we were completely on board.
Neutral Zones of America is a Phoenix - based nonprofit organization geared towards helping children and families from low - income communities. Neutral Zones of America’s goal is to provide a safe environment for children that will serve as a place of education, growth, and development for children. The Alumni Classic is a fundraiser put on by Neutral Zones of America, as well as an opportunity to raise awareness about the organization.
What better way to reach goals than with an exciting event like this one? The Alumni Classic will feature former basketball players from ASU and U of A. The event celebrates the long rivalry between the two schools, and Neutral Zones of America is proud to be the first organization to promote a friendly game for the Alumni.
The 1st Annual Alumni Classic takes place on August 30, 2009 - 12PM at U.S. Airways Arena. Tickets go on sale on July 8th.
Since the event is coming up soon, ROCKET MEDIA and Neutral Zones decided that the Alumni Classic site should go live before the general Neutral Zones of America organization site. For the Alumni Classic website we created a site that promotes the game by being informational and exhilarating. Along with the ability to purchase tickets, become a sponsor, and sign up to play; visitors can go to the “Trash Talk” section of the site and add their own trash talk about the game, before, during and after. The trash talk section is featured as a feed on the home page. Along with web development, ROCKET MEDIA contributed a Content Management System (CMS), Social Media Setup, and Training Services.
Apryl Neal, co - founder of Neutral Zones of America commented about the new Alumni Classic website, “You see your idea come to light; your hard work, be something.”

The Alumni classics event is paired with a food drive in the Phoenix Metropolitan area through the United Food Bank of Mesa. The food drive for this event will be active during the month of August and will benefit low - income families in need of essential food products.
As the list of confirmed players continues to grow, and as more sponsors contribute, ROCKET MEDIA is there for Neutral Zones of America each step of the way.
Neutral Zones of America is now active in social media, so become a fan of their organization page on Facebook, let everyone on Facebook know that you plan to go to the Alumni Classic Basketball Game, follow them on Twitter, and friend them on Myspace.
